So I finally managed to do a full figure shot, with a background too. Huzzah! Here's a book I'd love to draw, Swamp Thing. I like monster or creature stories more than anything else so this'd be perfect for me. Also organic detail is always the quickest thing to draw because it's so random. It always looks like you put more time in then you actually did.
You do understand the term 'sketch' right?
ReplyDeleteThat's it. Simple head-shot for me next week.
Lovely piece though. Backlighting on the figure is great. I like the tight linework on swampy. Something Hughes-ey about it.
It was actually pretty quick to do. When you look at it it's basically a silhouette with scribbly leaves for a background. I didn't really pencil it or anything.
ReplyDeleteYeah I like the backlighting aswell. The brush work is really skillfully done, nice and controlled (What the hell do i know about brushes tho) Thats some serious background too
ReplyDeleteNice one Thompson. That bold black shadow really knocks the detailed background waaaay back. Sterling work.
ReplyDeletehe looks like ron pearlman. also I think he's missing a nice sihouetted tree wang!
ReplyDeleteYeah, methinks if this was a Bob Byrne drawing you'd definitely see more of little Swamp Thing.
ReplyDeleteIf only there WERE a bob byrne swamp-thing lying unused drawing somewhere...
ReplyDeleteI believe that's a Man-Thing drawing actually.
ReplyDeleteCos they're not the same character...
ReplyDeleteGreat work man, nice silhouette.
ReplyDeleteMan thing-Swamp thing, what's the difference? Wicked pic man
ReplyDeleteI think the difference is that Swamp Thing gets some in his comic.
