Glum Conan

I hadn't intended this to be a Micks sketch (or even a picture of Conan when I started) but I've been messing about with a demo version of Manga Studio and this was one of the results. It's by far the best computer drawing program I've used, tailor made for comic book artists. Although because it's a demo it won't let you save pictures, so this is from a screen capture. Hence the slightly crappy quality.

That's deadly man, i like the big schnozz on 'im. The different grey tones flesh it out nicely too.

The image quality is actually really good; i wouldn't have thought that was a screen capture if you hadn't said.

I don't think he's glum, it's just his brow is troubled. Fantastic sketch (which looks like a finished panel).

It does look like a finished panel. There's something Kubert Sr about it.

Ha, that's great. A tad too asian looking to be Conan, more like a sleepy(and slim) sumo wrestler.
Surprised by how organic this looks for a digital drawing, must find out more about this program when I'm down for Trek.

Actually the Asian look is on purpose, in the Robert E. Howard stories there was always a strong Mongolian Steppes vibe to the cultures. Nothing seemed European at all.

Really?! Wow. Guess Ahnolt is just too ingrained on my consciousness. Gotta love the Mongols.

This is one of my favorites so far! Perfect emotional expression, and I like the asian influence to Conan, I agree that it fits well with Howard.

Electric Micks email me if you want a version of Manga studio 4.0. I'll explain in a reply email.
Its great I have it a few weeks now. Only starting to mess with it.

I got onto it through Tommie Kelly of www.roadcrewcomic.com

Nice take on a character I know sod-all about. This image has more depth of character than any other Conan piece I've ever seen. maybe I'm looking in the wrong places. Nice to see a slightly toonier style with you too.

@Ani-Thing: I may have to email you!
