Christ on a bike; that's brilliant man! Really like this; great drawing with a bold and graphic composition. Officially my favourite Mooney Micks piece to date.
Tho, wasn't she the *only* female in the 'New' X-men? Kitty didn't join til later if i recall.
Definitely my favourite Mooney piece so far. Some real Adam Hughesyness to this one, especially around the face and bazongas. I really like the cartoony shape to the hair and the colours are great.
Yeah, but of the 'all new' X-men, she was the only one, right? Jean Grey was missing when Storm came in, and Dazzler didn't come in til later. Hmmm, my inner X-nerd is getting me off topic here.
Yeah, she actually looks African in the way that Hughes made whatsherface in Gen 13 look Native American.
I think you're right. I was thinking of the Byrne/Claremont issues. I'm glad you used the black suit and not the dodgy 90s white one. The purple one wasn't too bad though.
I was thinking more of that whole era of the book, where Ororo, Jean and Kitty were about. But yeah Dec, I guess technically Storm was the only female on that team when introduced. And David, the black suit is the main reason I drew this to begin with...
Its the same old story Bob. I can't for the life of me draw anything grotty while the likes of Tommy Thompson sucks at the pretty. If I tried to draw an old dude with man-boobs they'd just be full, pert double-d's.
Mooney's Boobies should be your new daily tagline. Great idea to ethnicisize the shit out of Storm too; it serves the character well and make you look thoughtful and whatnot. Top balls, Moonflange.
1. Dave Cockrum's original Storm costume is one of the true classics of the genre and nobody drew her to look as unselfconsciously beautiful, sexy and exotic as he could. R.I.P., Dave.
2. Jean Gray was in with the "new" X-Men from Giant-Size X-Men #1 on up (she was rescued from being leeched by Krakoa and was there as a source of tension between Cyclops and Wolverine for a few issues, until she went all Phoenix in #101) and Kitty showed up in the first chapter of the original Dark Phoenix arc. Yeah, I'm a pathetic geek.
Eclectic Micks are a collection of Irish professional comic book artists. They include Stephen Mooney (Angel, Half Past Danger), Stephen Thompson (Star Trek; New Frontier, Presidential Material: John McCain), Len O'Grady (Smoke, Ares) Nick Roche (Transformers, Doctor Who), Will Sliney (Star Wars, Farscape), Bob Byrne (Mr. Amperduke, 2000AD), Declan Shalvey (Thunderbolts, 28 Days Later) and Tomm Moore (The Secret of Kells)
Every day there will be a sketch posted here, each artist posting on a certain day. Enjoy

Jean Grey was around some of the time too. Dazzler for an issue. Great piece.

what's a nubian?
The opposite of an oldbian.
Great work Mooney, I'd like to see you draw a slob some day though. You know, a bit of armpit fat etc

Cheers Nickolai! Yeah, ethnic boobies are my favourite.

Oh, and this is a terrific piece! (Sorry I didn't mention that earlier; too busy geekin' out.)
I KNEW Jean Grey was about since Stormey's debut!
Thanks for clearing that up Bunche
