Art For Japan: Metal Gear Solid

Here's my piece for the Eclectic Micks 'Art for Japan' auction: Metal Gear Solid. I'm a big fan of the action/stealth series and it's fantastically overwrought dramatics. My favourite aspects of the games lie mainly in the outstanding character/vehicle/location design by series art-director, Yoji Shinkawa. And of course the man behind the entire concept, and director extraordinaire, Hideo Kojima. Two legendary Japanese gentlemen in my book.

I'm not sure as to the specifics of the auctions yet, Will's probably the man to sort that out, but I do know that all the lads' pieces this week are gonna be up for sale, with all proceeds going directly to the Land of the Rising Sun.

Nice. Is the halftone actually on the physical piece? I've never played any of the games but I've always enjoyed the hilariously suggestive names of the characters. Solid Snake and Revolver Ocelot being two of the best.

This turned out terrific, Sonny-Jim. This is gonna look great on some lucky sumbitch's wall. First class.

Cheers guys, had fun drawing this one.
Thomps; the screentone isn't present on the original, but the darkened section of the wall is indicated pretty effectively with pencil.

And don't forget Decoy Octopus, you always seemed to like him.

Updated with inked tones on the wall. The halftone was a tad misrepresentative.
