REJECTED APES COVERS

When starting my series of covers for 'Betrayal of The Planet Of The Apes', I brainstormed some rough ideas. I ended up using most of them for the final covers; there was another idea that I was even able rework for one of my covers for the following 'Exile' series. Above were the rough ideas that never went anywhere. The last idea I deliberately didn't hand in to the Apes team, as I realised I had accidently rehashed an old cover of mine. Glad I caught that.

I'M IN LONDON STILL

Hey Mick-Lickers! Thanks for popping by my table last weekend at the Belfast Heroes & Legends Con. This weekend (25th & 26th of February) my travels take me to the London Super Comic Con. I'm not a 'guest' guest, but I'll be found at the IDW booth most of the time, flogging lotsa lovely TF art prints as well as offering up sketches like the one above of the 11th Doctor. Pop along, say hi, and grab yourself some art and/or pathetic banter!

OI!

KABLOWIE

Epic, huh? Well there's a beautifully coloured version of this pic over on my own barely-alive blog (www.nickroche.blogspot.com) with the crafty crayoning provided by John Paul Bove, soon to be accepted by humanity once Transformers: Regeneration 1 hits this summer.

And you (yeah, even you) can own the coloured version of this image by dropping by my table at the Heroes and Legends Con at the W5 in Belfast tomorrow and Sunday (http://www.heroesandlegendscon.com/) where I'll also be doing sketching and a chitty-chat.

If you don't find me there, I'll also be at the London Super Comic Con next weekend, stationed at the IDW booth drawing my mind asunder. Come along and say hello. Or even more words if you can think of them.

Delay

Apologies for the delayed post. I was up at the amazing Cliffs of Moher gather referance for Cú Chulainn

Skids Marks The Spot

My variant cover for TRANSFORMERS: MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE #2, out next Wednesday. Sales on this sucker have been incredible so thanks to everyone who picked up #1!

Hmm, the log says this is post 1000. That can't be right, can it...?

Red Thunder

JP Leon did an excellent fill in issue of Animal Man recently starring Red Thunder here, who drunkenly failed to stop some youths who were mildly harassing a news vendor. Great stuff.

T-BOLTS process

For a change, I thought I'd post the layouts of a recent T-Bolts page alongside the finished artwork. This was a splash page from issue 167. If you look closely, you'll see that the composition of both pieces nearly matches exactly, aside from one figure I quite noticeably changed. That is because I light-box my layouts onto the art-board and pencil from them. That way, I try to retain as much spontaneity from the original layout as possible.
