MacGyver Week 2

Just heard the great news from Will that Issue 1 of his MacGyver book has sold out, and is getting a second printing. We figured a second MacGyver week was in order to celebrate!

My secret shame is that I've never actually seen an episode of the show, so have no idea what it's about, save for an inventy dude with a mullet. One thing I did garner from the snippets I saw as a kid was that he was rather fond the these sorts of constructive items.

Black Widow Pencils

Pencils for another commission to be collected at DICE. This time, Black Widow. I started this earlier in the year and it had some other characters on it which I didn't like. So I figured when the request for a Black Widow piece came in that I'd erase all the parts of the old version that I didn't like, and concentrate on and finish the Black Widow elements, while adding all that fun soviet stuff. I'm happy with how it's turned out. 'Course, I still need to ink the sucker before the show, or at least enough of it that I can finish it there.

Looking at this again, I can see I've totally indulged my weird ponytail fetish. No wonder it was so much fun to draw...

Dark Phoenix

Pencils for another pre-show commission for DICE(Dublin International Comics Expo). This time, Dark Phoenix. Bit more work in this one, since it's supposed to end up as 'print-ready' ie, tight enough to be an actual pinup or cover. Can't help thinking I channeled some early-nineties Jim Lee here, really reminds me of those great 'Butterfly-effect' shots of Psylocke and her power signature when she was using her telepathy.
Ah, the nineties.

Iron Giant Commission

Due to singular demand, here's the completed Iron Giant commission, the pencils of which I posted last week. Inked with copic pens/brushpens and markers.

On the topic of commissions, I'm probably going to take on 3 or 4 pre-booked commissions for the upcoming Dublin International Comics Expo (or DICE) next month. I'll probably be doing quick free sketches during the con, but here's the chance for anybody who wants something a bit more substantial. I'll post details on this blog and my own later in the week.

UPDATE: I'm taking on two more commissions to be collected at DICE, two spots are already gone. 50 quid for an A4 single character. Just give me a shout on facebook/twitter/email/smoke signals if interested.
