Due to minimal demand, I inked up the Death Dealer sketch from last week(which can be found here).
As usual, I'm not sure if I prefer the pencils or the inks.

More Daft Aliens
I just found more refugees from that spoof game from the other week- the influences are pretty clear, I think.
Oh, and if you didn't know yet, I've been Nominated for an Eagle Award for Favorite Colourist, and my current gig, l'Histoire Secrete (earlier issues reprinted in the US as The Secret History) has been Nominated for Favorite European Comicbook.
Voting is quick and easy, so go get clicking, otherwise I'll have to start kissing babies.

From the heartless files...
Here's what I've been doing for the past few weeks. I do a lot of lame corporate comics for banks and insurance companies etc but it's handy work if a little stale.
The flip side of this is my fun in 2000Ad and of course that piece of shit webcomic I do every Friday

THOR
[NOTE: Cant get to a scanner today so i had to take a photo of the drawing. I'll update it with a decent scan once i get a chance]
Something a bit different this week. Will suggested that for this week i should ink a piece of his and he should ink a piece of mine. Sure why not?
Will suggest i ink the Thor piece he did last week (see here). I light-boxed the image onto a blank page, so i didn't stick really close to the original drawing. Still, i tried to keep the overall feel the same. My drawing wasn't very big, so i had to simplify the face a bit. I thought Thor's right hand should be smaller, but in retrospect i think i maybe went a bit too small. Also, i thought his hammer might look a bit better in his left hand.
Anyhoo, there's the finished image. Really curious about Wills image tomorrow.
Thoughts below.

Death Dealer
Wanted to pay my respects to the passing of one of the undisputed artistic powerhouses of our time, Frank Frazetta. A massive influence on myself + most comicbook artists I know, the man was a legend.
My favourite pieces of his were the Death Dealer series, especially the one depicting DD on his steed.

Batman returns forever
Even more Batman, he has to be our most used character at this point. This was done for a birthday card. Every artist who draws Batman seems to have a bit of a different take on his ears, Miller does the little stubby ones, Bisley does the huge pointy ones and so on. I'm trying to make floppy ears the hot new look. Just imagine those bad-boys flapping in the air as he jumps from roof to roof.

Ragin' Cajun
Man he's easy to draw fast! Great costume design. I remember when he appeared in the cartoon and since all the xmen comics we had were the ancient reprints we all thought he was cooked up just for the show. Or was he?

ROSCOE
Forgive the lateness today yet again; i keep forgetting i'm 5 hours behind.
While over here in New York, i've met some really swell comics folk, one (or two really) being the Timony Twins (Pete and Bobby). After meeting them i picked up their comic series The Night Owls, published online and in print from Zuda Comics. The above is one of the Night Owls; Roscoe the gargoyle. I'd urge you all to pick up the collection, but hey; you can see the series online here and make up your own mind. I thought it was a great series with a lot of 'moxie' and old-timey goodness.

Brushpen doodle
Nothing too spectacular this week, just me practising with a brush. I find it quite difficult relinquishing the control that pens give me, but it's kind of hard to deny that you get a much livelier line with a brushtip. So some random chickadee with an eyepatch. Why's she wearing an eyepatch? What'm I, a doctor?
Wait, maybe it's eyepatch week on the blog.

More HighRiding...
This weeks has been very gratifying, seeing how the Micks have been handling our little world.
Here's a wee concept sketch I knocked out a while back, something that we used to help flesh out the the setting, one where strange civilizations and terrible secrets lie scattered between guttering stars...
Simon Pure
Sorry lads just back in after a week away. Here's my Simon Pure, great character design and the whole story looks fantastic.

HIGH RIDER
Here's my contribution to the Farseeker week; the High Rider. Len sent on a couple of designs and it really reminded me of the Wanderly Wagon, a children's tv show from years ago in Ireland. Plus, i thought that drawing a vehicle of some sort would be a nice change from the usual character drawings i do here on the Micks blog. I hope ye all check out Len's story on the Act-iv-ate site; the pages ive seen from it are gorgeous.

FARSEEKER WEEK: Huran
Len's new online strip 'Farseeker' debuts this week , and we're all sketching one of the varied and wonderful characters. I chose Huran, the Warrior-Catmonk; love Len's design-work on him. All the characters are gorgeously designed for that matter, and even after only the first few strips we Micks have been privy to, the world and its inhabitants are incredibly well realised and defined. Swords and Sorcery, Intrigue and atmosphere, filtered through the deranged mind of a rogue Irishman, it's all gravy.
But don't take my word for it, head over here and ch-check it out!
Here's the official spiel:
'Abducted from their various worlds, a rag-tag group of other-worldly strangers have been charged with a cosmic quest by a mysterious and mischievous imp who claims they are destined to save the world... but he won't tell them how! Intelligent yet all-age-friendly fantasy in the vein of The Magnificent Seven and The Hobbit, FARSEEKER updates weekly every Friday.'
Dig it.

Scarran
I always loved the Scarran - they were such an elaborate bit of work, that the show visually punched above it's weight. Will's work on the Farseeker comic matches that kind of creativity, so check it out.
Speaking of things Far, my webcomic FARSEEKER launches today at ACT-I-VATE, so please come on by and take a look.
