Felt like drawing an X-Man this week, and sure didn't i just cop it was St. Patrick's Day tomorrow, so why not do Banshee eh? Oh right... cuz he looks ridiculous; *that's* why. So, in an effort to make him slightly less-ridiculous, i thought i'd design a new costume for him. If you've no interest in the design, ignore the below. And the above too, i guess.
I basically took the costume he had (that cape is actually pretty cool and i liked the yellow 'point' on his torso) and tried to make it a bit more contemporary (ie; less-70s) along with adding some elements from Celtic armor. No chain mail or patterns or anything fussy like that, but more layered patches like the leather support those old costumes had. Also; i gave him a cropped haircut and shaved the sideburns. If Marvel ever bring him back, i'd like to see him act more like that Irish nut-bag from Braveheart that the 'didilly-aye' version from before.
Oh, and Happy Paddy's Day! (it's tomorrow but i'm off drinking tonight with Will Sliney. True story)

Great pic dec, and Happy Paddys day to ye micks! Damn it I should have drawn up a banshee for the freaky blog this week, but i lazy so a snake will do! This redesign is savage! Banshee is actually a cool character just poorly treated I guess, you should pitch it to marvel!
Weren't Banshee's traditionally women?
I like this costume a lot, especially the shoulder bits. He looks like a psychopath though.
I was just gonna say, it looks like Doc Ock found his costume and went rampaging in it.
Things I like: The bodysuit re-design is great, really like the panelled-leathers you were talking about. The drawing is great accross the board too.
Things I don't like so much: Not really sure what's going on with the wings, are they projecting out to the sides, or forward? He looks like a total nutty-butter. Not really the man to watch over Xavier's next generation after all, methinks. And lastly, and most importantly, lose the sideburns?! You're insane Shalvey. Lose the clay pipe, yes, but the 'burns maketh the man.
I'm okay with him looking like a nutter; it's like i was saying with yer man from Braveheart.
The wings are coming out and toward, that's what i was going for anyway; wanted to get a bit stylized with them as they are a pretty cool graphic tool, say, like Batman's cape. In fairness, i think the sideburns have been gone for a while, but i could be wrong about that.
Glad ye like the costume though. I was pretty happy with the shoulder bits too.
Jac; yeah they are, but sure what're yeh gonna do?
Thanks Kev... yeah... i'll give Marvel a shout. I'm sure they'd listen to me.
Well he still had the sideburns throughout the gen x series in the nineties anyway, dunno if they've disappeared since then, but if they have, then bring 'em back I say.
Im sure I have that issue where he died and I think hes got the locks in them. Maybe they could do with an oul trim allright so theyre not quite Hamish McTaggart burns and have them more stylish like yours Mooney or even mine to a lesser extent
He didn't have the sideburns in Generation X (I went and found the issues to make sure) but I think he should have them. They're iconic and you could make them look reasonably trendy.
Okay, tell you what; if i ever draw him again i'll work on the sideburns. In the meantime, because it's a front-view, let's all pretend he has them but can't see them.
Ha, I love how these comments sections are more and more becoming a forum for us to bicker amongst ourselves. good times!
begorrah thats great!
Sideburns are a must.Spot-on with the costume though.
To be sure,to be sure
