DAKEN: DARK WOLVERINE
News came out last week that Rob Williams is the new ongoing writer on Daken: Dark Wolverine, so I thought I'd try my hand at drawing him. Congrats Rob!
With the background, I wanted to break up the fingerprint dust technique with a different element, so I tried experimenting with line for the more distant background. I'm not sure if it worked, but I thought it was worth trying.

Lovely solid figure-work there art-Deco. Not sure about the bg treatment. Definitely an interesting effect.
Oh, and I second the conrats to Rob! I'm sure he'll knock it out of the proverbial park.
Ah yeah, it might have been better to use that effect as a foreground element instead but sure, it was worth a shot.
Love the figure and the swirly, smoky stuff behind him but that line effect on the right of the background still looks like palm fronds to me.
Cool inking !
Thanks Tom!
Thompson; Yeah, Jordie said the same thing. Sometimes you just need to try something to know when NOT to do it, i guess
