Hello there. Something a bit different this week. Below are my inks over another artist, being Dan McDaid who is currently drawing the brilliant Jersey Gods published by Image Comics. Dan posted a rough pencil drawing on his blog last week (also below) and invited anyone to try and ink it. It obviously looked like Dan's drawing, but it was rough enough to allow some interpretation, so i thought i'd have a bit of fun with it.
So, here's my inks....
And Dan's original pencil drawing.
Also, another artist, Chris Samnee, tried inking the same drawing and wielded really different results. Have a look. I'd urge you all to look through Dan's blog, as there's some wonderful stuff on it; much better than the crap i'm putting up here.
It's worth mentioning that the first trade paperback of Jersey Gods is out later this month, so if you've never heard of it, do yourself a favour and pick it up. Read the whole first issue here first if you like.

Nice job Dec. Great sense of movement. Your inks on this remind me a little bit of Eric Canete.
Interesting to see Chris Samnee's version. I read 'Capote In Kansas' and I love the way he uses shadow.
Keep up the good work!
great stuff Dec! kept the energy of the pencils really well with the inks.
Nice job indeed Dec, quite unusual looking results. Successful, though.
Thanks lads.
Ciarán, if this reminds you of Canete, then i'm very pleased, but it's really down to how stylized Dan's initial drawing is, i think. I like how different Samnee's version is. Really liked 'Capote In Cansas' myself.
Hey Fran, yeah, i was aiming to tighten up the drawing, but trying to keep that frantic look Dan does so well.
Hey Mooney, yeah, i didn't know what to expect in the end but it was a fun exercise.
Samnee's version reminds me of Tim Sale whereas yours has a hint of John Romita Jr. It's amazing what a difference the inker can make.
A little whiff of Paul pope too, but all good, and a great exercise. Congrats, Dec. You are drawgood.
Deadly.
I agree with Nick, kinda Pope-ish.Which is no bad thing,of course!
And Decster, pweez do a sketch of Dr.House for one of your posts!
Farking great stuff, Dec.
Nice, you really kept all the energy of the pencils. Plus I like the different ways you handled the cowl/cape and the stuff on the utility belt.
Hmmm. 'Pope-ish' eh? Didn't see that, but take no offense.
In fairness, i was able to play around a bit since Dan's drawing was so loose. Glad ye like it though.
Nick; thanks. You are Sexgood.
Luke; House? Really? Why? And why me, even?
Thompson; yeah; i liked how rough the pencils of the belt were and thought i should use the pen. Wouldn't work on the rest though, i think.
C`maaaaaaaaaawn!
You`d be great at drawing House.
C`maaaaaaaaaaawn!
Draw the kid a goddamn House fer god's sake Declan. Lots of windows.
You did a good job with Atticus Finch (Gregory Peck).
House would be cool.
yeah,Dec.
c`maaaaaawn!
Ah Jeeesus, alright. I'll add it to the list. Windows and all. Won't be for a few weeks though.
And a chimney?
I'm still waiting on Oscar the Grouch . . .
I actually have that drawn Liam! Drew it months ago; ask Mooney. I just haven't posted it yet.
Soon..... maybe.
