Abe Sapien

I thought I'd take a crack at Abe Sapien this week, he of Hellboy and B.P.R.D. fame. It's one of the few comic book sandboxes that I'd love to play in, although frankly I think I'd rather just see Guy Davis draw it all.

Exciting update! There's a colour version here for those who may be interested.

This looks absolutely fantastic. One of my favourite pieces on the blog - you've totally excelled yourself.

That's lovely man. Great drawing but the composition totally makes it that much better.

that's great Bompso. as Dec said lovely composition and I love the depth you got with the blur on the jelly in the background.

The best thing you've done in ages. Fantastic composition, great, simple drawing with just the right amount of line, and a real sense of movement. I find some of your digital stuff, while really-well drawn, tends to get bogged down in all of the new brushes and tones that you employ with manga-studio, and can end up a bit deadened by the process.
This is really aces.

This is one for the ages! A truly good piece. It feels alive.

I think as artists, we always want these great images to happen, but it's impossible to know when that's gonna be.....but every once in a while..BAM!!

Nice job!
