What I always Wanted

This is my piece for the exhibition Bob mentioned in his last post, all pieces on sale for a fantastic cause.
I've been meaning to tackle a transformer piece for a while now, but of course the looming shadow of the Roche made the prospect that much more daunting. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, my favourite part by far being the little pic of me playing with my toys as a kid.
Gotta say, these robots are a bitch to draw, so I give Nick that much more credit for tackling hundreds of them in every issue of his books. That and his oh-so-edgy haircut.

I like how little Mooney has your current haircut and not the pudding bowl job you were sporting as a lad. Excellent Transformer though, but the idea of drawing them in a regular comic boggles the mind.

It's obviously not, but I almost forgot to come back with the punchline.

Nah, this is great man! Love the Mini-Moon too. I'd love to see you cut loose and Mooney up a TF, but this is a lovely toyetic TF. And hey! I'm still haven't drawn a TF on this blog.

Looking at it agin, the kiddy-Moon is a lovely, lovely drawing. Top stuff!

You did a great job on the transformer but my favourite part is you as a kid. Reminds me of the Bendis / Mack Daredevil story about a little boy. The piece has a hint of Mack to it. That's a good thing btw.

This is great Moonpup. Definitely one of the best pieces you've done in a while in my opinion, and that's not a slight on any of your recent work at all.

Really like the results you're getting from the markers, that's a great Starscream and the lil' Moonpup at the bottom with the lil' Moontoys is fantastic.

Cool beans sir.

Cheers lads, the wee moonpup fella is defo my favourite part too.
Nick: yep, agreed. I was a tad too respectful of the source material(I had masterpiece starscream in my other hand most of the time I was drawing, he definitely came out a tad sterile maybe. I did find the proportions and things quite difficult, maybe if I gave the bots another shot I could inject a bit more personality into it. I gave him the megatron gun though, that's pretty cool, right?

Jesus, man, it's ALL cool. My desire to see a robot with a little more Moonfist up it wasn't a slight on this image at all. It is what it is. And it is excellent.
